Joey Scouts are our youngest members

Joey Scouts – Big Adventures for Little Explorers!

Ages 5–7 years | Where the Scouting adventure begins!

Joey Scouts is the first exciting step in the Scouting journey, giving children aged 5–7 the opportunity to make new friends, build confidence, discover new skills and have plenty of fun along the way!

Through weekly activities, games, outdoor adventures and hands-on experiences, Joey Scouts learn about the world around them while developing teamwork, independence and a love of nature. From exploring their local community to trying something completely new, every week brings another opportunity to learn, grow and have fun.

What Do Joey Scouts Get Up To?

Joey Scouts enjoy a wide variety of activities designed especially for younger children, including outdoor adventures, nature exploration, creative activities, community involvement and exciting games.

Along the way, they can earn badges recognising their achievements, new skills and personal development. The highest achievement in this section is the Joey Scout Challenge Award, celebrating their growth, participation and achievements throughout their Joey Scout journey.

Big Adventures – Kangaree!

Every two years, Joey Scouts have the opportunity to attend Kangaree, an exciting statewide Scouting event bringing together more than 1,000 Joey Scouts for four days and three nights of camping, activities, entertainment and unforgettable experiences.

It's a fantastic opportunity to make new friends, build independence and experience the excitement of being part of the wider Scouting community.

Becoming a Joey Scout

Joey Scouts wear their section's uniform shirt, their local Scout Group's scarf and a woggle to hold it together. Wearing their uniform helps children feel a sense of belonging and pride in being part of Scouting.
