NEW ADULT MEMBERS

Family Involvement

10th Ivanhoe Scout Group is run entirely by volunteers, and we are extremely grateful for the time, skills and support contributed by our families. Every contribution—whether it is a regular role or occasional assistance—makes a genuine difference to the experiences we can provide for our young people.

To keep the Group operating successfully, every member family is asked to contribute in a way that suits their interests, skills and availability. We understand that families have different work and personal commitments, so we offer a range of roles with varying levels of involvement.

Minimum Family Requirement

Every member family must have at least one parent or carer registered as an Adult Supporter. The cost of registering one Adult Supporter is included in every family’s annual membership fees.

Roles

Youth Program Leader

Our frontline mentors. Youth Program Leaders work directly with one of our youth sections—Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts or Venturer Scouts—on a weekly basis. They mentor young people, helping them develop ideas and safely plan, lead and review their own adventurous programs. If you enjoy being actively involved, attending camps, teaching practical or outdoor skills and guiding the next generation of young leaders, this is an incredibly rewarding role. Training and ongoing support are provided.

Program Support Leader

Our critical facilitators. Program Support Leaders provide the structural, administrative, logistical or specialist support that helps make our weekly adventures possible. This flexible role may involve managing equipment, assisting with badge records, coordinating event administration or sharing specialist skills such as adventurous activities, STEM or first aid. It is ideal for people who want to make a significant contribution with a more flexible or specialised time commitment.

Adult Supporter

Adult Supporters provide practical assistance when needed, including helping with weekly activities, camps, transport, fundraising, working bees and special events. Unlike Adult Contributors, registered Adult Supporters can attend overnight activities. Every family must register at least one parent or carer as an Adult Supporter. A fee of $50 is charged by branch to cover your registration and insurance.

Adult Contributor

Adult Contributors help with particular tasks, activities, working bees or projects when available. This may include assisting at events, helping with fundraising, maintaining equipment or sharing a skill. Adult Contributors are not permitted to attend overnight Scouting activities.

President

Helps lead the Group Executive Committee, supports the Group’s overall direction and works closely with the Group Leader and other volunteers.

Secretary

Assists with meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence, records and other Group administration.

Treasurer

Oversees the Group’s finances, accounts, payments, budgeting and financial reporting.

Badge Coordinator

Manages the supply and ordering of badges and awards for all units.

Social Events Coordinator

Helps organize social activities and events that bring our young people, families and volunteers together.

Uniform Recycler

Coordinates the collection, organisation and redistribution of good-quality second-hand Scout uniforms.

Maintenance Support - Quartermaster

Helps maintain and repair the Group’s trailers, equipment, grounds and buildings. Assistance may be regular or provided as particular jobs arise.

Activity or Skills Support

Shares a hobby, trade, professional skill or special interest that could contribute to the youth program or support the Group.

Grants team member

Part of a team of adults whose job is to instigate and acquit grants for resources and capital infrastructure for our group.

Please NOTE : WWC card is mandatory. Police check,references and some online training modules may be required.

A member of the Group will contact you to discuss the available options, answer your questions and help find a contribution that suits your skills and availability.
